Overview

The Innova Invictus is a 10-speed overstable distance driver built for power throwers who need a disc that refuses to turn. Innova's own copy translates the name — Latin for "unconquered" — and says that for long-range throws into a headwind "there's no equal."[2] IsaacSam's Innova guide describes it more bluntly: the Invictus is "a Discmania PD, a faster version of the Firebird, or the reincarnation of the Monster-L."[1] Its 10/4/0/3 numbers and unusually low 1.5 cm profile[3] produce a flat, driving flight that holds its line at speed before a hard, dependable fade.

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

Innova lists the Invictus' best uses as long-range forehands, headwind distance drives and extreme hyzer throws.[2] It rewards arm speed — a player who cannot get it up to 10 speed will simply watch it fade out early — which is why retailers profile it as a souped-up Firebird for power forehands, spike hyzers and forced flex lines.[4] Treat it as the overstable anchor at the top of a bag rather than a general-purpose driver.

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The PDGA approved the Invictus on 30 January 2020 under certification number 20-09, recording a 21.2 cm diameter, 1.5 cm height, 1.2 cm rim depth, a 2.1 cm rim and a 176.0 g maximum weight.[3] IsaacSam's Innova guide files the mold under 2020 and reports that Innova made it for Ricky Wysocki, who "liked to throw Monsters and PDs," and that it became a signature series disc for him — Wysocki's involvement is credited with turning the Invictus into a popular mold rather than a niche one.[1] Innova's own product page carries a different endorsement, from Star Team member Garrett Gurthie: "If you think you have the power, you need this disc."[2] Innova currently lists Star, GStar and Champion runs at 165–175 g,[2] and the PDGA certification photographs show GStar and Champion samples.[3] Infinite Discs' page lists only Star and GStar, so the Champion run is best treated as intermittent rather than continuous.[4]
