The Thought Space Athletics Praxis is a 3-speed stable putt & approach. With published flight numbers of 3 / 3 / 0 / 1, it is most often described as suited for straight point-and-shoot approaches, driving a putter off the tee on tight wooded holes.

Overview

The Praxis is Thought Space Athletics’ flagship throwing putter, rated 3/3/0/1.[2] TSA’s own description is blunt: “The Praxis is our go-to throwing putter. Straight, workable, and easy to trust, whether you’re attacking the basket or carving smooth lines off the tee.”[2] It is beadless, with a 1.4cm rim depth on a 21.2cm diameter — a mid-depth profile rather than a deep-dish putting putter.[1] TSA groups it with the beaded Alter, which shares the same 3/3/0/1 numbers, and the slightly more overstable Muse.[2]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

TSA lists the Praxis’s intended shots directly: “Straight approaches / Driving off the tee / Point and shoot accuracy / Confident putts / One disc rounds.”[3] It is the disc for players who want one putter that both putts and throws — TSA says “Both beginners and pros alike will enjoy the consistency and versatility of our throwing putter, the Praxis, especially for those one-disc rounds.”[2] Expect a straight hold with a gentle finishing fade rather than a hard hyzer.

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Praxis was PDGA-approved on 10 March 2021 under certification 21-27.[1] The PDGA’s new-disc announcement for it carries a headline and timestamp but no body text at all, so no launch copy survives there.[1] Thought Space Athletics publishes no release date for the mold and credits no designer. It has since become one of the company’s most durable sellers: TSA chose the Praxis to launch its Annual Stamp program, describing the disc as “The start of something new” and adding that “There’s a reason the Praxis is one of our most trusted discs. It holds the line, releases cleanly, and feels just as comfortable on a touch approach as it does powering off the tee.”[3] The mold has run in a long list of TSA blends — Aura, Ethos, Ethereal, Glow and Nerve among them[4] — though at present only Firm Nebula Nerve and an Experimental X Ethos run are stocked on TSA’s own store.[3] The one player documented with a Praxis in the bag is James Proctor, who described four first-run Praxis in a 2024 in-the-bag video.[5]
