The MVP Motion is an overstable distance driver rated 9 / 3.5 / 0 / 4 on MVP's own half-step flight system.[1] MVP places it at the overstable end of its 18.5 mm distance driver class, above the Tesla, Inertia and Impulse.[1] The stated design goal is a driver that resists turnover from power or headwind through a long straight travel, then delivers a reliable lateral fade.[1] Like every MVP mold it is built on the GYRO overmold, pairing a denser rim ring with a lighter flight plate.[1] The PDGA certification record lists a 21.0 cm diameter, 1.4 cm height, 1.2 cm rim depth, a 2.0 cm rim and a 174.3 g maximum weight.[2] Independent flight databases carry the same 9 / 3.5 / 0 / 4 rating.[3][4]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

MVP frames the Motion two ways. For low and average-power throwers it works as a utility overstable driver with guaranteed fade; for high-power throwers it becomes a torque- and wind-resistant distance workhorse with a straight-to-overstable shape.[1] Forehand players are a specific target, since the overstability absorbs the torque a sidearm release puts into the disc.[1] MVP explicitly positions it for fans of the Resistor who want the same familiar characteristics at greater distance.[1] Anhyzer shaping is not its strength — MVP describes "a stubborn refusal to flip."[1] It is offered in Neutron and Plasma, 155–175 g.[1]

History

The PDGA approved the Motion on 22 February 2014 under certification number 14-13, recording a 21.0 cm diameter, 1.4 cm height, 1.2 cm rim depth, a 2.0 cm rim, a 17.0 cm inside rim diameter and a 174.3 g maximum weight.[2] It arrived during MVP's build-out of the 18.5 mm distance driver class, which the company now presents in stability order as Motion, Tesla, Inertia and Impulse.[1] One specification worth noting: MVP lists the mold's class rim width as 18.5 mm, while the PDGA's own certification measurement records 2.0 cm, and MVP gives a 21.1 cm diameter against the PDGA's 21.0 cm.[1][2] Discpedia follows the PDGA figures for consistency across the database. Several Team MVP members bag the Motion, among them Brian Sweet, Jeff Faes, Juhani Vainio and Tyler Schrock.[1]
