The Axiom Hex is a 5-speed stable midrange. With published flight numbers of 5 / 5 / -1 / 1, it is most often described as suited for straight midrange flights, hyzer flips.
Overview
The Axiom Hex is a high-glide stable midrange with overmold gyro construction. Its 5 glide is unusually high for a midrange and gives the Hex a notably floaty, distance-friendly flight pattern.
Flight characteristics
Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.
Recommended uses
The Hex is at its best on straight midrange flights that benefit from extra glide, on hyzer-flip approaches, and as an all-purpose midrange for players who appreciate the gyro feel. Neutron is the standard premium run; Plasma adds slightly more grip.
Best for:
- Straight midrange flights
- Hyzer flips
- All-purpose midrange
Plastics & variants
The Hex is available in the following plastic blends from Axiom:
Neutron, Plasma, Fission, Eclipse 2.0
Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.
History
Approved in 2014, the Hex has been one of Axiom's most popular molds. The overmold gyro design — shared across MVP, Axiom, and Streamline — gives the Hex a distinct feel in hand.
