The Innova Foxbat is a 5-speed understable midrange. With published flight numbers of 5 / 6 / -1 / 0, it is most often described as suited for dead-straight midrange shots that hold their line to the ground, tunnel shots through tight gaps.
Overview
The Innova Foxbat is a large-diameter, high-glide midrange rated 5/6/-1/0.[2][3] Innova calls it a neutral midrange that holds a line with minimal fade, and 6 glide is unusually high for the class — Innova's own launch copy noted the glide becomes most apparent around 170 grams.[3][4] IsaacSam's Innova guide describes it as essentially a less stable Mako with little to no low-speed stability and massive glide, marketed at beginners and selling decently well on that basis.[1] The 21.7 cm diameter and shallow 1.4 cm rim make it comfortable for players still building grip strength.[2]
Flight characteristics
Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.
Recommended uses
The Foxbat is a straight-line tool. Its near-zero fade suits tunnel shots and technical approaches where a normal midrange's finish would take it off line, and its glide converts modest arm speed into real distance. Innova lists technical approaches, tunnel shots and short finesse drives as its best uses.[3] The trade-off is wind: with little to no low-speed stability, the Foxbat has nothing held in reserve for a headwind, and will turn and stay turned if pushed.[1]
Best for:
- Dead-straight midrange shots that hold their line to the ground
- Tunnel shots through tight gaps
- Long, floaty approaches for lower arm speeds
- Gentle turnovers and hyzer-flips

Plastics & variants
The Foxbat is available in the following plastic blends from Innova:[3]

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.
History
The Foxbat was PDGA-approved on October 22, 2013 under certification number 13-66, and the PDGA's announcement quoted Innova describing a large-diameter midrange with higher glide and a small high-speed turn, released in Star plastic from 160 to 180 grams.[2][4] Innova's product page now gives the range as 165–180 grams.[3] Innova followed it with the Wombat in 2015, which IsaacSam describes as simply a Foxbat with a convex edge and a bead — the two share identical flight numbers.[1] His guide then reports that the later Wombat3 single-handedly sent both the Wombat and the Foxbat out of production as throwers migrated to it.[1] That is borne out elsewhere: Infinite Discs reported in December 2019 that Innova had moved the Star Foxbat to its factory store as an out-of-production mold, and the Foxbat no longer appears on Innova's current midrange lineup page even though its individual product page remains live.[3][5] IsaacSam names Garrett Gurthie as having briefly bagged one before switching to Wombats, but we could not corroborate that independently.[1]
