The Prodigy F3 is a stable fairway driver rated 8 / 5 / -2 / 2 by the manufacturer, the same four numbers encoded in the mold's own Prodigy model code, 85-22.[1][2] Prodigy describes it as a disc for "long, controllable flights with a mild finish" and rates it as suitable for all skill levels.[1] Dimensionally it is conventional fairway-driver geometry: a 21.3 cm diameter, 1.5 cm height, 1.1 cm rim depth and a 1.8 cm rim.[1][3] The PDGA lists a 176.8 g maximum weight and a 17.7 cm inside rim diameter.[3] Independent flight databases carry the same 8 / 5 / -2 / 2 rating.[4]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

Prodigy Disc pushed its first molds through PDGA certification in mid-2013, and the F3 was approved on 6 July 2013 under certification number 13-47 — recorded with a 21.3 cm diameter, 1.5 cm height, 1.1 cm rim depth, a 1.8 cm rim and a 176.8 g maximum weight.[3] Its understable sibling the F7 came through the very same batch on the very same day, one certification number later at 13-48, and carries identical certified dimensions.[3][5] More than a decade on, the F3 remains in continuous production and Prodigy still catalogues it under the 85-22 code alongside the F1, F2, F5, F7 and F9 in the brand's fairway-driver family.[2] Prodigy's numeric naming convention — where the model code restates the flight numbers — makes the F3 unusually easy to place within that lineup.[2]
