The Innova Condor is a 3-speed stable midrange. With published flight numbers of 3 / 4 / 0 / 2, it is most often described as suited for layup approaches from inside 150 feet, thumber and roller shots that need mass.

Overview

The Innova Condor is Innova's largest-diameter and heaviest golf disc: 24.1 cm across, with a 200.0 g maximum weight — well above the 175 g ceiling that applies to standard-diameter discs.[3] Innova calls it "our largest diameter and heaviest weight golf disc" with "a very stable true flight" that is "very accurate at all ranges."[2] Disc Golf Puttheads rates the flight at 3/4/0/2 and describes it as a large-diameter midrange that "bridges the gap between catch discs and golf discs."[4] The size is the whole point: it is slow through the air, easy to place, and hard to lose track of.

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Condor was sold as an upshot disc and that remains its main golf use — IsaacSam records that legends including Ken Climo used it to lay up from within 150 feet, since its slow flight makes it easy to land close.[1] Its mass gives it two utility roles: Innova notes it "has long been a favorite of disc golf pros throwing thumb rollers," and IsaacSam points out that a heavy Condor can break small branches en route to the basket and rolls over obstacles more easily than a normal disc.[1][2] In the 138 g weight it is a field-event disc rather than a golf disc.[2]

DX

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Condor was PDGA approved on 13 May 1991 under certification number 91-04.[3] IsaacSam places it as the second instalment in Innova's run of oversized "lid" discs, after the Lynx, and the most successful of them: unlike the Lynx it was genuinely popular with 1990s disc golfers, who preferred it at the full 200 g for golf while keeping a light one for pre-round catch.[1] He argues it is the only beveled-edge disc to succeed in both catch and disc golf.[1] Innova still lists the Condor as current stock and states that it "was used to set the TRC World Record," holding the Throw, Run and Catch record at 94 metres in the 138 g weight.[2] IsaacSam notes that the mold has moved in and out of production repeatedly and that heavy weights remain scarce despite demand, and that premium runs — a few batches of Star and Blizzard Champion Condors — are the real collector market, rarely surfacing below $100.[1] Innova's own stock listing is DX only.[2]
