The MVP Uplink is a 5-speed understable midrange. With published flight numbers of 5 / 5 / -3 / 0.5, it is most often described as suited for hyzer-flip shots down tight tunnels, touch anhyzers and turnover approaches.

Overview

The MVP Uplink is a 5/5/-3/0.5 understable midrange in MVP's 13 mm midrange class.[2] MVP positions it as "nestled into the perfect sweet spot of understability for a wide variety of arm speeds," a disc that "will be carving touch anhyzers or sweet hyzer-flips through the woods for experienced players" while lower-power throwers "will find the Uplink to be an extremely straight and controllable midrange."[2] Like all MVP molds it uses the GYRO overmold, and its beadless rim gives a clean release for both backhand and forehand.[2][4] The PDGA lists it at 21.5 cm diameter with a 178.5 g maximum weight.[3]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Uplink's defining shot is the hyzer-flip: MVP calls its early turn "a phenomenal tool for straight hyzer-flips down tight tunnels," and at higher power the same understability yields anhyzers that swoop across a fairway or flat-release rollers.[2] Lower-power players get a straight, glidey midrange instead — MVP describes it as "a great first straight midrange," with anhyzer releases producing effortless S-turns that land flat.[2] It doubles as a scramble and approach disc where a turnover angle is needed. It is not a wind disc.

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Uplink was PDGA approved on 5 July 2021 under certification number 21-72.[3] It slots into MVP's 13 mm midrange class between the Reactor and the Vector on the stability ladder, giving MVP a dedicated understable option in a lineup that had previously leaned neutral to overstable — the class now runs Matrix, Reactor, Uplink, Vector, Axis, Vertex from understable to overstable.[2] MVP has produced it in Neutron, Neutron Soft and R2 Neutron, and issued special-edition runs.[2] MVP's own "Uplink in the Bag" listing names Team MVP players carrying the mold, including Madison Walker, Mike Inscho, Chance Stad, Mehdi Boukarabila and Sascha Goldmann — several of them in 175–177 g Neutron.[2] Note that the Uplink is often mislabelled a putter in retailer search results; MVP, the PDGA specification and Disc Golf Puttheads all classify it as a midrange.[2][3][4]
