The Innova Skeeter is a 5-speed stable midrange. With published flight numbers of 5 / 5 / -1 / 1, it is most often described as suited for placement shots on tight, tree-lined fairways, short approaches inside 200 feet.

Overview

The Innova Skeeter is a small-diameter, domey midrange rated 5/5/-1/1.[3] At 21.2 cm across it sits well under the 21.7–21.8 cm width of a standard Innova midrange, which is why it grips more like an oversized putter than a Roc.[2][3] Innova calls it “a small diameter Mid-Range disc with a straight flight and slight, but dependable fade” and “one of the best discs we make that putts, approaches, and drives dependably and accurately.”[3] The high glide rating of 5 gives it far more carry than its modest speed suggests.

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Skeeter is a placement disc first: straight midrange shots through gaps, short approaches, and controlled hyzer or gentle anhyzer lines that finish where they are aimed.[3] Innova lists placement shots, straight shots and short approaches as its best uses.[3] It is also one of the few Innova molds made in genuinely light weights — the Factory Store sells DX Skeeters down into the 120–129 g bracket — which makes it a common recommendation for children and slower arms.[4] Beat-in Skeeters turn hard and serve as a forehand alternative.[1]

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The PDGA approved the Skeeter on July 8, 2006 under certification number 06-28, recording a 21.2 cm diameter, 1.9 cm height, 1.3 cm rim depth and 1.3 cm rim with a 176.0 g weight limit.[2] No retail release date separate from the approval is documented, and Innova credits no designer. IsaacSam's Innova guide describes the Skeeter as “a faster less stable version of a Coyote” and a mold that “remains in production,” noting that Innova recommends it for kids and that it has “fans across all levels of disc golf.”[1] Innova's own site supports the Coyote link only loosely, placing the Coyote as the Skeeter's slower neighbour on its speed ladder rather than stating a shared lineage.[3] Sources disagree on plastics: IsaacSam names DX and R-Pro, Disc Golf Puttheads names DX and Star, and Innova's disc page lists Star, GStar, R-Pro and DX — while its Factory Store additionally sells a Limited-run Champion Skeeter that appears on no official plastics list.[1][3][4][5] DX and R-Pro are the two currently under Full Production.[4] No documented touring pro bags a Skeeter.
