The Streamline Runway is a 5-speed overstable midrange. With published flight numbers of 5 / 4 / 0 / 3.5, it is most often described as suited for headwind midrange shots that must hold their line, full-power forehand approaches.

Overview

The Streamline Runway is an overstable midrange and the overstable end of Streamline’s 13mm midrange class, sitting opposite the Echo.[2] Streamline’s own copy says it “can handle powerful throws with pinpoint accuracy” and that “in high wind situations, this midrange will hold straight lines with a pronounced finishing fade.”[2] Streamline rates it 5/4/0/3.5, and every independent source checked reproduces that rating without change.[4][5] The PDGA measured it at 21.5cm across with a 1.7cm height, a 1.4cm rim and a 178.5g maximum.[1] MVP calls Streamline its “solo-mold lineup,” distinguishing it from the GYRO overmold construction used for MVP and Axiom discs.[3]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Runway is a power player’s control midrange. Streamline says “power throwers will find a control midrange that has the stability to fight out of turnover and forehand lines,” and positions it as offering “more glide than the popular MVP Deflector due to its less aggressive fade at the end of flight.”[2] That points to headwind midrange shots, forehand approaches that will not turn over, and hyzer lines with a predictable skip. Streamline adds that it “will keep its stability while gradually breaking in to a trusted stable midrange round after round.”[2]

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Runway was PDGA-approved on 2 August 2018 under certification 18-61.[1] Marshall Street describes it as “the 4th disc (and first midrange) released by Streamline” and rates it “very overstable” — a shade stronger than the plain “overstable” label every other source uses.[4] No PDGA new-disc announcement page for the mold could be located and Streamline published no launch post, so 2018 is an approval year rather than a documented retail date.[1] The Runway survived MVP’s “Plan for 2020” cull of 29 August 2019, which retired fifteen molds from the MVP and Axiom lineups only; that same post records that MVP “aggressively grew Streamline Discs to include far more options in our solo-mold lineup.”[3] Two data conflicts are worth flagging. Streamline files the mold in its “13mm Midrange Drivers” class and prints a 13mm rim width in its own specification table, while the PDGA measured 1.4cm — the class number is a nominal family label, not the measured rim.[2][1] Streamline also advertises a 170–179g weight range that runs above the PDGA-certified 178.5g maximum.[2][1] Streamline’s own in-the-bag table lists Garry Patton and Mike Inscho, both Team MVP players, though the entries are dated.[2] No designer is credited.
