The Discraft Nuke OS is a 13-speed very overstable distance driver. With published flight numbers of 13 / 4 / 0 / 4, it is most often described as suited for headwind drives that must finish left for a right-hand backhand thrower, long forehand drives at full power.

Overview

The Discraft Nuke OS is the extra-overstable member of the Nuke family, rated 13/4/0/4 by Discraft with a stability figure of 2.2.[2][3] It shares the Nuke's thick 2.5 cm rim, and the PDGA records it at 21.2 cm diameter, 1.6 cm height, 1.2 cm rim depth and a 176.0 g maximum weight.[1] Discraft describes it as “made for advanced players with the most powerful arms,” a disc that “will finish on a hyzer even in strong winds.”[2] Zero rated turn means it resists flipping at speeds where most 13-speeds give way.

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Nuke OS is a full-power tool, not a control driver. Reach for it on headwind tee shots that have to finish hard left for a right-hand backhand thrower, on long forehand drives where torque would turn over a neutral 13-speed, and on spike hyzers and forced flex lines that need a dependable hard finish.[2] Discraft positions it as offering “the most dependable consistency of any high speed driver on the market.”[2] Players who cannot yet get a standard Nuke to fly flat will not see the OS reach its intended flight.

Best for:

  • Headwind drives that must finish left for a right-hand backhand thrower
  • Long forehand drives at full power
  • Spike hyzers and forced flex lines off the tee
  • Big-arm utility shots where a Destroyer would turn over

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The PDGA approved the Nuke OS on 9 June 2011 under certification number 11-23, roughly a year after the original Nuke entered Discraft's line.[1] It was the second variant in what became a three-disc family alongside the understable Nuke SS, giving Discraft a matched set of 13-speed drivers sharing the same 2.5 cm rim but covering the full stability range.[1][3] Discraft has kept the mold in continuous production in ESP and Z Line, and also runs a Z Lite version for players who want the same shape at reduced weight.[2][4] The mold has remained a reference point for the “overstable high-speed driver” slot in Discraft's lineup and is regularly compared with the Innova Destroyer and Discraft Force by review sites.[5]
