The Innova Mystere is a 11-speed understable distance driver. With published flight numbers of 11 / 6 / -2 / 2, it is most often described as suited for long s-curve drives on open fairways, hyzer-flip drives that flex out and finish left.

Overview

The Innova Mystere is an 11/6/-2/2 distance driver built around glide rather than raw power.[2][3] Innova's own launch copy, quoted by the PDGA, describes it as "the newest Speed 11 Distance Driver from Innova. Similar to an Archon with an extra glide gear, this friendly flyer promises long turns and smooth fade."[3] IsaacSam frames it the same way from the other direction — "a more glidey version of the Archon, which itself is a slightly less stable version of the Wraith" — and notes it appears to have replaced the Archon in Innova's lineup outright.[1] The PDGA records it at 21.1 cm diameter with a 2.1 cm rim and a 175.1 g maximum weight.[4]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Mystere is at its best on open holes where a shot can turn, ride, and come back: full-power S-curves, hyzer-flips that stand up and flex out, and tailwind drives that need glide to keep carrying.[2] Innova lists it as a "best choice for shot shaping off the tee" and "controlled distance."[2] IsaacSam recommends it specifically for newer players stepping up to fast distance drivers, since the extra glide and mild understability make speed 11 reachable without a full-power arm.[1] It is not a headwind or utility driver.

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Mystere was PDGA approved on 25 August 2015 under certification number 15-65.[4] It did not launch as a retail disc: the Champion Mystere was offered exclusively through Innova's Player's Package Sponsorship Program, and IsaacSam reports that Innova "did not think they had much with the Mystere, so they only made them for tournament player packs."[1][3] Players took to it anyway, and Innova promoted it to full production — its current product page opens with "once exclusive to our Player Pack Sponsorship Program, the Mystere debuts in our premium GStar plastic," and it now ships in Halo Star, Star, GStar and Champion.[1][2] The mold's role in the bag has stayed narrow: IsaacSam writes that the Mystere "does not see much use among advanced players" and that he has "never seen one on coverage," so no notable throwers are claimed here.[1] Innova's own comparison chart places it alongside the Mamba, Archon, Krait and Wraith at speed 11.[2]
