The Innova Dominator is a 13-speed stable distance driver. With published flight numbers of 13 / 5 / -1 / 2, it is most often described as suited for long shot-shaping drives for high-power arms, predictable distance on open fairways.

Overview

The Innova Dominator is a 13-speed distance driver rated 13/5/-1/2 — numbers that are unanimous across Innova's product page, the PDGA record, IsaacSam's guide and independent flight-chart sites.[1][2][3][5] Innova positions it as “similar to the Katana, with more high speed stability,” designed to give higher-power players control and long line shaping.[3] Its 2.4 cm rim is among the widest Innova makes. In practice the Dominator plays more overstable than its -1 turn suggests for most arm speeds: IsaacSam reports it “appeared to be more overstable than the Destroyer for most,” and Infinite Discs' community ratings drift the same way.[1][5]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

This is a high-power disc. Innova's own “best choice for” list is predictable distance, shot shaping drives and forehand drives.[3] Players without 13-speed arm speed will find it fades out early — which is exactly why Innova pushed the lightweight Blizzard Champion run, letting lower-power throwers reach the speed it needs.[1][3] IsaacSam is explicit that “most people do not have the arm-speed to get a 13 speed up to speed.”[1]

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The PDGA approved the Dominator on January 22, 2012 under certification number 12-06, alongside the Mamba.[2] Innova's approval announcement described it as falling “between the Katana and the Boss.”[4] Retail release came later that year: on September 13, 2012 Innova released the Champion Dominator (170–175 g) and the Blizzard Champion Dominator (155–169 g).[4] IsaacSam frames the mold as Innova taking “another crack at trying to make a more friendly 13 speed version of the Destroyer,” and says Innova leaned on beginner-friendly plastics — Blizzard first, GStar later — to bridge the arm-speed gap, with Star and Champion runs being rare.[1] Two of his claims do not hold up against current evidence and are flagged here: he says the disc went out of production, but Innova's product page is live and both Champion and GStar Dominators sit under Full Production in the Innova Factory Store; and Champion was a launch plastic, not a rare one.[3][4] IsaacSam also writes “I do not think a pro has ever bagged a Dominator” — an opinion, though no documented pro bagging was found either.[1] Innova's own weight claims have shifted too: the 2012 announcement promised Blizzard weights “down to the mid 130s,” while the current page says mid 150s.[3][4]
