Overview

The Westside Discs Maiden is a neutral putt-and-approach disc rated 3 / 4 / 0 / 1.[1] Westside describes it as 'a neutral putter with a thin profile' that is 'surprisingly resistant to turn with little fade.'[1] The beadless, low-profile shape and 1.0 cm rim make it one of the shallower putters in the Trilogy lineup,[2][3] which is a large part of its appeal — Infinite Discs notes it 'quickly became a putt-and-approach favorite as players discovered how comfortable it is in the hand and how straight it flies on approaches to the basket.'[3] The name comes from the Finnish national epic Kalevala; in Finnish the mold is Tuonen Tytär.[1]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Maiden was PDGA-approved on February 8, 2018 under certification number 18-19.[2] It was released for the 2018 Trilogy Challenge, the annual Dynamic Discs / Latitude 64 / Westside event series that has introduced a number of Trilogy molds.[3] A 600-unit BT Hard Burst Glow run went out through the Infinite Discs VIP Club in October 2018.[4] Westside credits the stamp artwork to Linda Stenberg in 2018, and names the mold for the maiden figure of the Kalevala.[1] The disc is still in full production across Westside's BT, Tournament, and VIP families,[1] and Westside issued a VIP-X Moonshine Ring Maiden as Matt Orum's 2026 Team Series disc.[1] One data point to treat with care: Infinite Discs lists the Maiden's maximum weight as 177 g, one gram above the PDGA's certified 176.0 g figure.[2][3]
