The Kastaplast Impa is a very understable distance driver rated 11/6/-4/1.[1][2] Kastaplast pitches it in two directions at once: players with more arm speed can use it for big sky rollers, while players with lower arm speed get real distance out of its glide.[1] The collection blurb sums it up as a distance driver that works for lower arm speeds, giving long glidey S-curves.[3] At 21.3 cm across with a 2.2 cm rim and a shallow 1.1 cm rim depth, it is a full-size distance mold rather than a slowed-down fairway driver.[2]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

Four points of turn against a single point of fade make the Impa a shape-maker rather than a workhorse driver. For a developing player it is a way to get a long, gently turning S-curve out of an 11-speed without fighting fade at the end.[1][3] For a stronger arm it turns over readily enough to serve as a dedicated roller.[1] It is a poor choice in a headwind, and stronger players should expect it to flip and burn if thrown flat at full power.

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Impa is one of Kastaplast's newest molds, approved by the PDGA on January 5, 2026 under certification number 26-1 — the first disc certified in the 2026 series.[2][4] Kastaplast has not published a release announcement on its own news blog, so no manufacturer-stated retail date exists; the earliest US retail evidence is a first-run drop through Marshall Street Disc Golf in early 2026.[5] The disc is currently offered only in K1 plastic, in three forms: a standard K1 run, a K1 first-run X-out, and a limited K1 first run stamped for the Swedish Open 2026.[3] No designer is credited on any Kastaplast page, and no player has been documented bagging it. Retailers and aggregators repeat that the name is Swedish slang for 'impress', but that claim does not appear on any Kastaplast-owned page and should be treated as unconfirmed. Every measured specification agrees across the PDGA record and retail listings.[2][5]
