History

The Guld was PDGA-approved on May 16, 2022 under certification number 22-89.[2] Retail release came about three months later: Kastaplast's launch was originally set for August 1, 2022 and was pushed back to August 15, 2022, when it dropped as a first-run-only release.[3][4] It joined Kastaplast's distance driver line as the overstable complement to the understable Grym, the Grym X and the Rask.[5] Kastaplast's own launch copy leaned on the name — "Everything you touch turns to gold! Almost. At least this piece of plastic did in our hands."[1] The mold remains in production and is currently offered in K1, K1 Hard, K1 Grind and K1 Glow, including a K1 Hard Clay Edwards Tour Series run for 2026.[1] Note that Kastaplast advertises the rim as 24 mm while the PDGA's certified measurement is 2.3 cm.[1][2]
