The Dynamic Discs Freedom is an understable distance driver with manufacturer flight numbers of 14 / 5 / -3 / 3.[1][2] Dynamic Discs calls it the fastest disc the company has produced and compares it to the Westside King and Latitude 64 Havoc, both understable bombers in the same Trilogy family.[2] Infinite Discs describes it as the first speed-14 driver in the Dynamic Discs line.[4] Community numbers run milder than the factory rating: Infinite’s reviewer averages across 47 reviews came out at 13.8 / 5 / -2.8 / 2.7, and Only The Best Discs lists turn as -2 rather than -3.[4][5]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

Dynamic Discs marketed the Freedom at players who wanted distance without having to overpower an overstable driver, and the -3 turn gives a long turnover flight with a late fade for a right-handed backhand.[2] That suits maximum-distance drives from moderate arm speed, long anhyzer and flex lines, and rollers. The stability is forgiving but the speed is not: a 2.4 cm rim at speed 14 still demands a clean, fast release, so it is a poor choice for headwinds or for players still building form.[4]

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Freedom was PDGA-approved on July 14, 2014 as certification 14-57.[1] Dynamic Discs’ own product page prints the certification number as 13-57, which contradicts the PDGA record; the PDGA number matches the 2014 approval-year prefix and is the one to trust.[1][2] The mold was retired five years later. On June 12, 2019, founder Jeremy Rusco published a retired-molds announcement listing twelve discs, the Freedom among them, and explained the decision: “When we recognized that 90% of our sales came from 22 of our 34 molds, we knew that we needed to make the bold decision to retire twelve molds.”[3] Rusco wrote at the time that retired molds would be “called back to action through limited runs or custom runs,” and that has held. The Freedom no longer appears in the standard distance-driver lineup, but its collection page remains live carrying a Fuzion Burst limited edition.[2] No source names a designer.
