The Thought Space Athletics Construct is a 10-speed stable control driver. With published flight numbers of 10 / 6 / -1 / 2, it is most often described as suited for long straight tee shots that need more reach than a fairway, powered-down placement drives on tight holes.

Overview

The Construct is a 10-speed driver rated 10/6/-1/2 by Thought Space Athletics.[3] The PDGA measured it at 21.3cm across, 1.6cm tall, with a 1.2cm rim depth, a 2.0cm rim and a 176.8g maximum.[1] TSA describes it as “built for controlled distance” and places it deliberately between two classes: “sitting between a fairway driver and a high-speed distance driver, it offers plenty of glide with a workable flight that players of all skill levels can appreciate.”[3] Retailers file it inconsistently as a result, with Marshall Street calling it a hybrid driver and others splitting between fairway and distance.[5]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

TSA gives the shot shapes directly: “thrown with touch, it holds long, straight lines. Give it more power and it will show a touch of turn before finishing with a dependable fade.”[3] That makes it a reach-extender for players who max out on fairway drivers, and a control option for players scaling down from full-speed distance drivers. OTB places it in the TSA lineup as “a longer Votum or a shorter Animus.”[4] Older TSA copy calls it “the epitome of glide,” which the 6 glide rating supports.[4]

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Construct was PDGA-approved on 16 May 2022 under certification 22-84.[1] The PDGA published a new-disc announcement the same day, but the page carries a headline and timestamp with no body text, a pattern repeated across TSA announcements, so it establishes only the approval date.[2] TSA has published no separate release date and credits no designer. Retail listings first appear around September 2022. The product copy has been rewritten at least twice: an early version pitched it as “a quintessential disc that crosses over perfectly between fairway driver and distance driver” where “experienced players can power-down for excellent placement control while newer players will not be overwhelmed by its 10-speed rim,” a middle version called it “TSA’s most versatile distance-fairway driver,” and the current version leads with “built for controlled distance.”[3][4] Sources disagree on glide, with Foundation printing 5 against the 6 published by TSA, Marshall Street, OTB and Disc Golf Puttheads.[3][5] They disagree on stability too: Marshall Street tags it stable, Foundation calls it slightly overstable, and OTB reviewers report the Aura runs flying less stable than Ethos and Ethereal, so the label is partly a plastic question.[4][5] Disc Golf Puttheads lists the inside rim diameter as 0, against the PDGA’s 17.2cm.[1] The mold is in production; the Ethos run specifically is tagged out of production by OTB.[3][4] A Maria Oliva limited edition exists, but a signature stamp is not bag evidence.
