The Discmania Cloud Breaker is a 12-speed overstable distance driver. With published flight numbers of 12 / 5 / -1 / 3, it is most often described as suited for long, overstable power drives that finish hard left (rhbh), forehand distance drives that resist turnover.

Overview

The Discmania Cloud Breaker is an overstable distance driver with flight numbers of 12/5/-1/3.[1][2] It delivers high-speed distance with a touch of high-speed stability and a strong, reliable fade, making it a dependable power driver for headwinds and forehands.[1][3] The Cloud Breaker began as a series of Eagle McMahon signature releases on the DD3 mold before being established as its own distinct mold, PDGA-approved on June 6, 2022.[2][3] It is part of Discmania's Originals line and is produced in premium plastics including Neo, S-Line, and C-Line.[1]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

The Cloud Breaker is built for high-power players who need controllable overstable distance: long hyzer bombs that finish hard, forehand drives that won't flip, and headwind tee shots that hold up and fade out reliably.[1][3] Its speed-12 rim rewards strong arm speed, so it is best suited to advanced throwers; lower-power players will likely find it too overstable to get full distance.[3]

Best for:

  • Long, overstable power drives that finish hard left (RHBH)
  • Forehand distance drives that resist turnover
  • Headwind bombs and windy-day distance
  • Controlled hyzer and flex lines for high-power players

Plastics & variants

The Cloud Breaker is available in the following plastic blends from Discmania:[1]

Neo, S-Line, C-Line

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Cloud Breaker name first appeared as Eagle McMahon signature-series runs built on Discmania's DD3 mold, before Discmania transitioned it into a standalone mold that was PDGA-approved on June 6, 2022.[2][3] It became one of the flagship distance drivers in Discmania's Originals line, and from 2024 onward the Cloud Breaker has been associated with Gannon Buhr's signature series.[3] A Premier Cloud Breaker variant with a slightly more stable 12/5/0/3 rating is also offered alongside the standard mold.[1]
