The Breakout is Dynamic Discs' slightly understable fairway driver, stamped 8 / 5 / -1 / 1.5.[1][4] The brand describes it as having the hand feel of a fairway driver with the easy release of a midrange, and says it will hold an anhyzer angle without turning all the way over.[1] Its 1.9cm rim and 1.6cm height make it shallow for the class.[2] Infinite Discs lists the fade at 1 rather than 1.5, with a reviewer average of 8 / 5.1 / -1.2 / 1.3 across 30 ratings, and classes the disc as understable and beadless for beginner to intermediate players.[5]

Flight numbers describe the published behavior of the disc when thrown at its design speed. Real-world flight varies with plastic, weight, age, and thrower power. The community-averaged numbers above reflect crowd-sourced observations from real throws — typically slightly more understable than the manufacturer's published values, which is the most consistent pattern across nearly every commercial mold.

Dynamic Discs lists fairway shots, easy turnovers and drives for beginners.[1] Disc Golf Puttheads adds hyzer flips that finish flat, tight wooded fairways, standstill throws and light forehand approaches, and notes the gentle turn adds distance at lower arm speeds.[4] The same source cautions that the mold is not built for heavy torque.[4] Dynamic Discs currently stocks it only in the lightweight Lucid Air run, in the 145 to 159 gram range, so a heavier Breakout means hunting older Prime or Lucid stock.[1]

Plastic blend significantly affects flight character. Premium plastics like Champion, Z, or C-Line generally fly more overstable when fresh and hold their stability over time. Base plastics like DX, Pro, or Active beat in faster and become more understable workhorses with use.

History

The Breakout was PDGA-approved on March 27, 2015 under certification 15-30, and the PDGA announced it the following day.[2][3] Dynamic Discs framed it as a shorter, more forgiving companion to the Escape, opening its product copy with the question of whether you like the Escape but find it goes too far.[3] That copy has stayed on the brand's product pages ever since.[1] It shares an approval date with the Evidence midrange, which Dynamic Discs certified the same day.[2] No designer is credited by the manufacturer, the PDGA announcement or the retailers reviewed here, and no remold or recertification is on record.[2] Availability has narrowed over the years. Dynamic Discs now lists a single in-stock Breakout, the Lucid Air, with the Prime Burst run sold out, while Infinite Discs still carries the mold.[1][5]
